Washington, DC (Thursday, June 12, 2008) – Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) today announced that the Texas Department of Transportation, acting for and on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration, has awarded a $3,630,430 airport improvement grant to the Brooks County for the Brooks County Airport. The financial assistance will be used for runway extension and lighting improvements at the airport.
“As Brooks County continues to invest in and strengthen its economy, it’s important a solid infrastructure is in place to handle these positive changes,” said Hinojosa. “These much-needed improvements at Brooks County Airport will help ensure a safer aviation environment and help the airport to become an even greater engine for future economic growth.”
Federal funds have been approved for 90 percent of estimated hangar costs, and Brooks County will be responsible for the remaining 10 percent.
