WHITEFIELD, NH – United State Senator John Sununu (R-NH) today (8/29) earned recognition from the National Association of Development Organizations for his support and partnership in advancing economic development in Northern New Hampshire.

North Country Council Director Mike King presented Sununu with the honor in Whitefield at a working lunch to discuss regional economic issues. The event, held at Presby Environmental, was attended by Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of Commerce for Economic Development Ben Erulkar and regional economic development leaders.

“Despite the economic pressures faced by New Hampshire’s North Country, particularly with the loss of jobs from the closures of the Fraser and Wausau Paper Mills, this region of our state continues to show its economic resilience,” said Sununu. “From tourism, to the timber industry, to small businesses, to a skilled workforce, New Hampshire’s North Country plays a valuable role in the state’s economy. I am honored to have helped support its growth in the past and the North Country can be sure I will be with them in the future.”

Joining Sununu, Erulkar, and Presby were Local #61 Steelworkers Union , the Northern Community Investment Corporation, the Tillotson Fund, White Mountain Community College, the North Country Council, the Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network, the Colebrook Development Corporation, the Coos Economic Development Corporation, locals officials, and local bank representatives.
