Pensacola, Fl (May 09, 2005) - Congressman Jeff Miller (R-Fl-01) and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson spoke today at the groundbreaking ceremony for the VA/Department of Defense’s Joint Ambulatory Care Clinic outside Corry Station in Pensacola.
“The Super Clinic is a huge victory for both our veterans and active duty military in Northwest Florida,” Miller said. “I applaud Secretary Nicholson for continuing the hard work of Secretary Principi and making this day a reality.”
Congressman Miller has been working with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to arrange the construction of the JACC since 2002. A portion of the JACC will also become the new home for a Naval Branch Health Clinic for active duty staff and students of the Center for Information Dominance at Corry Station.
When completed, the JACC will be located near Pensacola Naval Hospital and will combine services for the largest clinic within the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System into one facility, as well as provide for improved services for veterans in the Florida Panhandle and South Alabama. The Clinic will encompass approximately 200,000 square feet and will cost $45 Million to construct.
“By breaking ground on this state-of-the-art facility, we are furthering the close working relationship and mutual desire held by Naval Hospital Pensacola and the VA Gulf Coast Health Care System to improve their quality of care,” Miller added.
Work on the JACC is expected to take two years.
