Message from Senator Lugar

Dear Friends:

As we near Veterans Day, I would like to bring special attention to a flyer I have included as the last page of this month’s newsletter. I would ask all Veterans Service Officers and all my partners to display the flyer through Veterans Day to help bring attention to the Veterans History Project.

Also, if you would like to invite my office to attend a Veterans Day event, please send your invitations to: Senator Richard Lugar; 1180 Market Tower, 10 West Market Street; Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.

If you would like more information about partnering with me on the Veterans History Project, please contact Emmy Huffman of my staff. You may reach Emmy at (317) 226-5555 or via email at emmy_huffman@lugar.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Richard G. Lugar
United States Senator

Honoring Those Who Served

U.S. Army Sergeant Matthew L. Deckard was killed
on September 16 in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle.

Sergeant Deckard was assigned to C Company, 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was 29.

His father lives in Greenville, Indiana.

Sergeant Deckard is the 68th casualty with Hoosier ties in the Global War on Terror. As we approach the holidays, I encourage you again to keep the members of our military in your thoughts and prayers as they faithfully serve our country.
