Hurricane Katrina Response, Federal Government Operations

Chairman Davis Introduces Telework Legislation

Telework Reduces Congestion & Prepares Employees for Federal Emergencies

The Telework Improvements Act of 2007 develops a framework to ensure that all eligible employees have the opportunity to telework by:

•requiring each agency head to establish a policy that allows employees to telework one business day per week in at least 48 weeks of the year
•establish a senior level employee as the Telework Managing Officer to implement telework policies for the agency, tracking system and information collection
•requires agencies to incorporate telework into the continuity of operations planning of that agency
