New Mexico BioPark Society Membership

BioPark Society logo The New Mexico Zoological Society and The Friends of the Aquarium and Botanic Garden merged into one support organization for the BioPark beginning April 1, 2006. Your current membership and all benefits associated with it will be honored until it expires.

Reciprocal Agreements with Other Institutions

Half-price admission to the Aquarium/Garden is offered to members of certain other gardens, aquarium and zoos across the US. These institutions also offer discounts to New Mexico BioPark Society members; however because participation in this program is voluntary, it is recommended members contact the institution prior to visiting. Gifts/Donations

We gratefully accept donations and gifts to the BioPark and its core facilities - the Albuquerque Aquarium, Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Rio Grande Zoo and Tingley Aquatic Park. Please contact the office of the BioPark Director at 505-764-6211 for details or to set up an appointment.

AZAThe Albuquerque Biological Park is accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA). Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you and a better future for all living things. With its more than 200 accredited members, AZA is a leader in global wildlife conservation and your link to helping animals in their native habitats.


AZA is the leader in establishing and maintaining high standards for zoos and aquariums through our accreditation process. Accreditation is a detailed review and inspection process covering all aspects of an institution's operation including the animal collection; veterinary care; physical facilities; safety; security; finance; staff; governing authority; support organization; involvement in education, conservation, and research; and adherence to AZA policies. To be accredited, an institution must be a permanent cultural facility which owns and maintains wildlife, is open to the public on a regular basis and is under the direction of a professional staff.
