Shell Falls, Boulder Park Campground &

Burgess RV Dump Station Construction Projects

Shell Falls Visitor Wayside and Boulder Park Campground are closed this summer for major renovation as part of the Forest Service Capital Improvement Project program. Construction at Shell Falls is underway. The foundation and floor pad for the new visitor information center have been completed and construction is now focused on the super-structure. Public access is prohibited during the construction project. Please, DO NOT stop to try to view Shell Falls as the entire area is a construction zone and unsafe for visitors. The project is on schedule and the facility should be open with full services next summer in 2009.

Construction at Boulder Park Campground is scheduled to begin in July. New toilets have been installed. The road and camping spurs will be reconstructed to provide better access and traffic flow in the campground. Construction at Boulder Park should be completed this fall and the facility will be open for campers next summer in 2009.

The Burgess R.V. Dump Station located near Burgess Junction along US Highway 14 will be closed this summer for reconstruction. A broken valve forced closing the facility prior to the beginning of the reconstruction. The 30 year old facility will receive a “facelift”, including replacement of the wash out towers, hydrants, waterlines, curb and gutter, bulletin boards, closure gate, and addition of rock landscaping of the islands. Due the short operating season, it is not expected to re-open this year. The facility will be open for use next June. It is a citable offense to dump waste in toilets or into the ground. All waste must be deposited in appropriate facilities.

Bull Creek Campground is also closed this summer due to hazard trees with rot in the trunks that are in danger of falling, particularly in high winds. There are no plans for reopening Bull Creek at this time.
