Cattle Feedyard Air Quality Initiative

A synopsis of progress and impacts from a CSREES-sponsored cattle feedyard air quality initiative is available online. This federal agricultural air quality initiative, involving more than 20 scientists and engineers representing five agencies or universities in Texas and Kansas, is making significant progress on characterizing air emissions from open-feedyards and dairies in the southern Great Plains. This group is also studying cost-effective dust abatement technologies for reducing emissions and determining the effect of feedyard dust on animal health and productivity.

This project is an agricultural research partnership of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas Cooperative Extension, West Texas A&M University, Kansas State University, USDA’s Agricultural Research Service, and funded by CSREES.
