Water-damaged carpeting pickup
The City of Aurora and Allied Waste Services have worked out an arrangement where water-damaged carpeting can be removed. Aurora residents who can wait to have soaked carpeting removed until their normal garbage day will receive a reduced rate for pickup. Same-day removal will be available at normal rates. The city will not cite residents who leave water-damaged carpeting out past their regular garbage day.

Severe Weekend Weather Prompts Opening of Aurora’s Emergency Operations Center
Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner was back at work this weekend after undergoing radio frequency ablation surgery on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago to destroy colorectal cancer found in the liver. Weisner was released from the hospital on Friday, September 12.
Wolf's Crossing Remains Closed for Roadwork
Wolf’s Crossing Road on Aurora’s far east side will be closed from Eola/Heggs Road east to Hoffman Boulevard starting Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 for road reconstruction. The closure is expected to last six to eight weeks. A detour route will be posted.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an exotic woodborer that was found attacking and killing ash trees in Michigan during 2002. Since its detection, EAB has killed millions of ash trees and has spread into Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and other states. EAB has been confirmed in the nearby towns of Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora and Naperville, as well as numerous surrounding communities.
