CDC Now!

  • Protecting People’s Health: Anyplace, anytime, anybody…
    Everywhere, everyday, everybody!

Today we face bigger problems, higher expectations, and intense resource competition, all at a much faster pace. CDC is working to meet these challenges through a public health transformation that focuses on health protection and health equity. The 21st Century needs a networked health system of people and organizations working to achieve the common objective of optimal health value and equity.

  • Global Health Protection in the 21st Century: HIV as Metaphor

In the small world network of the 21st Century we are learning to take a global perspective on health protection and disease prevention. We are working with partners to combat disease, disability, and poor health on a global scale. We must replace complacency with action and begin to build our programs to meet the scale of such diseases as AIDS or the possibility of an Avian Influenza Pandemic. We can do this through connectivity, collaboration, and communication.

  • Omics, Epidemics, Syndemics, Pandemics… Global Health Protection in the 21st Century

Today′s science offers an integrated approach to emerging urgent threats, such as infectious disease or natural disasters, and ongoing urgent realities, such as obesity and heart disease. In the small world networks of the 21st century, public health is moving toward more connectivity, innovation, and collaboration to build strong networks to ensure healthy people in a healthy world.

  • Healthy People In a Healthy World Through Prevention

Over the last 60 years, the world class scientists and staff at the CDC have helped people to live safer, healthier, and longer lives. CDC and its partners are proud of their public health history and accomplishments chronicled in this brief presentation of the last 60 years.
