Please know I'd like to register my support for detectable warnings and accessible pedestrian signals in the Public Rights of Way for people who are blind/visually impaired. My business travel keeps me on the road for more than 50 thousand miles a year. I travel throughout our country accompanied by my dog guide. While we do encounter accessible street crossings and warning markers in some cities, these devices have not been universally implemented nationwide.

I support the PROWAC report and feel it is necessary that detectable warnings be mandatory at places where vehicular traffic is likely to be found. These warning symbols and audible devices at major intersections with pedestrian crossings provide equal access to information. This information is available to all other pedestrians via posted sign and placards. All I'm suggesting is access to the same information.

Let's put an end to the unnecessary risk of harm to pedestrians who are blind/visually impaired. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the safety of all foot travelers.
