ag outlook forum 2007 logoUSDA’s 83rd Outlook Forum to Feature Secretary Johanns
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns will head a distinguished group of speakers at USDA’s Annual Agricultural Outlook Forum scheduled for March 1 and 2, 2007.  The forum will be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.  There is no registration fee for USDA employees in the Washington, D.C. area, however, there will be a $15 onsite registration fee for anyone who does not register by February 3, 2007.  This includes all USDA employees. Program details and registration information is available on the forum’s website.


one of four US post office pollination stampsU.S. Postal Service Unveils Pollinator Stamp
The U.S. Postal Service recently unveiled four Pollination stamps at the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign Symposium.  The stamps, which will be released next summer, consist of four images arranged in two alternate and interlocking patterns.

This January 1949 photo depicts a snow plane that the SCS Snow Survey Program tested for use in the snow measuring program.  Ultimately, it was deemed impractical for snow conditions other than a groomed, packed roadway.  From left to right are SCS employees Ralph Aaker, Dave Norton, and Leonard Koski (who worked for the USGS at the time this photo was taken.  NRCS image -- click to enlarge).
