Ape for Trails Week at Mount St. Helens
Help
Clean-Up Ape Cave and Clear Winter Debris on Trails and at Facilities
South of the Volcano
Project
involves cleaning up Ape Cave lava tube, Trail of Two Forests, and
clearing winter storm debris for the upcoming season. Volunteers
should bring lunch, water and work gloves. Be prepared for
high mountain weather and rain or shine conditions. At 3:30
p.m., the work party will be followed by a
volunteer-appreciation potluck and barbecue
at the picnic area at Trail of Two Forests. The barbecue will be
followed at 4:30 p.m. by an optional guided tour of Ape Cave led
by an expert naturalist/interpreter and Mount St. Helens Institute
volunteer. |

Solstice Lewis River Trail Spectacular
Start
the Summer Off Right! Help Maintain Trails in Old-Growth Forests
along the Lewis River
Work will
involve clearing storm debris and repairing trail tread and facilities
southeast of Mount St. Helens. Efforts will focus on the Lewis
River, Curly Creek Falls and Big Creek Falls Trails. Volunteers
should bring work gloves, sturdy work boots or hiking boots and
come prepared for rain or shine weather. |

Help
Celebrate the Gifford Pinchot National Forest Centennial and Protect
Natural Recovery NW of the Volcano.
Project
involves removing scotch broom and other invasive weeds from areas
near our trails and visitor centers. Volunteers should bring work
gloves and come prepared for high mountain weather and rain or shine
conditions. The first 30 volunteers to arrive on Saturday
morning will lasso themselves a Weed Rodeo polo shirt. |

Volcano Work Party
Help
Repair Trails and Facilities Northeast of the Volcano
Work will
involve clearing storm debris and repairing trail tread and facilities
along the Boundary Trail, starting at the Johnston Ridge Observatory.
Volunteers
should bring work gloves and come prepared for rain or shine weather. The
work party will be followed by a volunteer-appreciation barbecue
and potluck. Volunteers
and MSHI members are invited to camp out with us on Saturday night,
and join us for an optional geologist and biologist guided tour
on Sunday morning July 13. |

repairing trail tread on the South Coldwater and Lakes Trails.

out in the parking lot of the Coldwater
Ridge Visitor Center . Work party volunteers are also invited
to attend our Saturday night Mount St. Helens Stargazing
Spectacular Field Seminar with Vancouver Sidewalk Astronomers

Public Lands Day
Help maintain trails and facilities on the South side of Mount
St. Helens
Join
us as we celebrate National Public Lands Day and help prepate
trails and facilities on the south side of Mount St. Helens
for the Fall/Winter season. Meet at the Marble Mtn Snopark
at 10:00 a.m. and the work party will continue until 4:00
p.m. Following the work party there will be a potluck
and barbecue (bring a side dish or desert to share).
Volunteers should bring work gloves, come prepared for rain
or shine weather.
