Meeting

The National Biodefense Science Board (NBSB) will be holding a public meeting on September 23, 2008 at the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, VA. The purpose of this meeting of the NBSB is to consider the report that has been prepared by the Disaster Medicine Working Group’s National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Assessment Panel.

The NBSB was asked by the Department of Health and Human Services to consider the review of the NDMS and national medical surge capacity as required by the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act and as specified in by Paragraph 28 of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-21. The Disaster Medicine Working Group of the NBSB, convened a panel of nationally recognized experts representing a wide variety of medical, emergency operations and other technical expertise related to disaster preparedness and response.

Public Participation:

Meetings of the NBSB are open to the public and attendance is welcome. There will be an opportunity for the public to address the Board. Registration is not required, however if you are interested in attending in person we encourage you to notify the NBSB staff by sending an email to NBSBquestions@hhs.gov with ATTENDANCE in the subject line. Members of the public may also listen to the deliberations of the NBSB by calling the telephone number 1-866-388-6817 fifteen minutes prior to the start time.
