Food and Agricultural
Education Information System (FAEIS)
The Food and Agricultural
Education Information System (FAEIS) is a database
of student and faculty information from both land-grant
and non land-grant institutions. It contains data on:
-
faculty by specific discipline
-
student enrollment and graduates by discipline and level
of study
-
job placement of graduates.
FAEIS data may be useful for faculty, higher education administrators,
funding recipients, government officials, industry professionals,
and anyone interested in food, agriculture, natural resources,
veterinary medicine, human sciences and related areas of
study. It can be used in planning, benchmarking and coordinating
efforts to support higher education in the food and agricultural
sciences.
Data on emerging fields can be used in developing new agriculture,
natural resources, veterinary medicine and human science
curriculums. FAEIS also collects information by gender and
ethnicity which is useful in the analysis of workforce needs
in these fields.
In addition to reports periodically posted on the web site,
FAEIS includes an on-line report generator allowing the customized
extraction of data across years. A CD, which is available
thorough the Help Desk, is produced yearly and contains the
previous year’s data regarding enrollment, degrees
awarded and placement of graduates by discipline. It also
identifies the schools who participated in the surveys.
FAEIS data, along with data from the Department of Education
and Bureau of Labor Statistics, are used to develop the Employment
Opportunities for Graduates in the U.S. Food, Agricultural
and Natural Resource System report, which is published every
5 years.
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University developed, maintains, and enhances FAEIS. If you
are interested in participating in the FAEIS data collection process, please
contact the FAEIS Help Desk (faeis@vt.edu)
at (540) 231-4941 (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time).
