Forest Service Requests Public Input on Clarks Fork River Management Plan

January 24, 2008 Cody, WY - The Shoshone National Forest is developing a management plan for the designated wild segment of the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River.
The river management plan applies to the 20.5-mile segment of the Clarks Fork River that was designated part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System in 1990. On January 24, the Forest Service distributed a scoping notice to solicit input on management of the river corridor. Comments are due February 29, 2008. An environmental analysis will be completed in the next few months.
The Forest Service will hold a public meeting on February 6, 2008 to gather public input on the proposal. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm at the Big Horn Federal in Cody. “We want to hear people’s comments on how this river corridor should be managed. Input at this initial stage of the process allows us to address issues and concerns early,” said district ranger Terry Root.
The scoping notice is available from the Shoshone’s Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r2/shoshone/projects/planning/forest_projects/
new_forest_projects.shtml.
For more information about the proposal and the meeting, contact Marty Sharp at 307.527.6921 or at the ranger district office at 203A Yellowstone Avenue in Cody.
