Andy Olson
Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Congressional Affairs

In this role, Mr. Olson is responsible for overseeing Congressional consultations and outreach. Mr. Olson first joined the USTR team in June 2005 as Deputy Assistant USTR for Congressional Affairs.

From 2001-2005, Mr. Olson served as Legislative Counsel to Senator Bill Frist (R-TN), advising on foreign relations, international trade, and financial services issues. During his time with Senator Frist, in addition to working on trade legislation, Mr. Olson also worked on Africa policy issues including the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the crisis in Sudan. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Olson worked for Congressman Christopher Cox (R-CA) where he handled foreign policy, international trade, tax, and financial services issues.

Mr. Olson earned his bachelor’s degree in Political science and History from the University of Mississippi, his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington Univeristy’s Elliot School.
