REASON FOR
ALERT : On September 11, 1996, DAL-DO detained an entry of hulled
pumpkin seeds found to contain aflatoxins. Aflatoxin was
found at 143.5 ppb by original analysis and 194.0 ppb in
the
check analysis. Aflatoxin B2 was found at 8.2 ppb in the
original analysis and 16.8 ppb in the check analysis.
***In December, 1996, LOS-DO detained a shipment of pumpkin
seed flour found to contain excessive levels of aflatoxins.
Aflatoxin was found at levels of 21 and 24 PPB by original
and check analysis, respectively.***
GUIDANCE : Districts may detain without physical examination the
***product from the manufacturer identified in the
attachment
to this alert.***
