A highlight of the AMT Annual Meeting was the presentation by Professor Paul Zane Pilzer entitled Economic Alchemy. Professor Pilzer’s Theory of Economic Alchemy is based on the importance of technology in determining economic success and well-being.

October 7, 2008 - AMT elected its 2008-2009 officers and directors today at its 2008 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. The Board of Directors of the association, which represents more than 400 American manufacturers of machine tools, manufacturing machinery and related products, elected Ronald F. Schildge, President, Eitel Presses, Inc., Orwigsburg, Pa., as Chairman. He replaces Doug Currie, President & CEO, Erie Press Systems, Erie, Pa. Mr. Currie will now serve the association as an Ex-Officio member of its Board of Directors.

MCLEAN, VA – September 25, 2008 - Congress and the Executive Branch must ensure that any action taken to restore global confidence in the U.S. financial system guarantees that American manufacturers and other industries maintain access to the working capital necessary to maintain productivity and protect jobs.

November 17-19, 2008 – The ANSI B11.2 Subcommittee deals with hydraulic power presses.  This meeting will be held at Toyota in Erlanger, Kentucky.

November 20-21, 2008 – The ANSI B11.9 Subcommittee deals with grinding machines.  This meeting will be held at Pilz Automation Safety L.P.

January 12 & 13, 2009 – The ANSI B11 Accredited Standards Committee is the governing body who evaluates final draft standards (or technical reports) developed by the B11 subcommittees.  This meeting will be held at Hilton Longboat Key, Longboat Key (Sarasota), Florida.

January 13, 14 & 15, 2009 – The ANSI B11.19 Subcommittee deals with safeguard performance criteria for machines.  This meeting will be held at Hilton Longboat Key, Longboat Key (Sarasota), Florida.

February 16-18, 2009 – The ANSI B11.TR3 Subcommittee deals with risk assessment/risk reduction for machines.  This meeting will be held at DePaul University’s O’Hare Campus in Des Plaines, Illinois.
