Fuel Properties
This page features a tool that allows users to create custom charts comparing fuel properties and characteristics for multiple alternative fuels. It provides information on usability, safety, physical properties, emissions, energy security, costs, and other pertinent topics. Gasoline and #2 diesel are provided for comparison purposes.
To use this tool, select the fuels you want to compare then select the properties you want to compare. You may select multiple fuels and properties by using your "Ctrl" button or you can select "All Fuels" and "All Properties" by default. Information includes sources (denoted by letter) and notes (denoted by number), which are listed on the separate Notes and Sources page.
Users can also search the Advanced Petroleum-Based Fuel Program's Fuel Property Database to see technical data on advanced compression ignition fuels. Some alternative fuels are included in this database; however, most of the fuels included in that tool are not considered alternative fuels under the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct).
Additional fuels information is available on the following pages.
