APPEALS AND LITIGATION

OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLE (OHV) ROUTE DESIGNATION

Over the next few years, the Sierra National Forest along with all the national forests in California will complete an inventory of all the roads, trails, and areas used by off-highway vehicles, identify a system of routes from that inventory, and designate those routes/areas for off-highway vehicle use. RECREATION FACILITIES ANALYSIS

The Forest is proposing a change to the future management of developed recreation sites through a process called "Recreation Facility Analysis." Many of the Sierra NF facilities were built 30-50 years ago and have reached the end of their useful life without significant deferred maintenance investment. Other facilities receive little or no use, and no longer serve the demand that existed in years past. The fundamental premise of the program of work is to have an inventory of recreation sites which are sustainable and can be adapted to changes in demand, available resources, and opportunities. More

RECREATION RESIDENCES

According to Forest Service policy, the Sierra National Forest must conduct a Recreation Residence Consistency Review and Continuance Determination for 555 recreation residences in 20 tracts under special use permit on the Sierra National Forest. SIERRA NEVADA FRAMEWORK

In 2001, the Forest LMP was amended and updated with the Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment (SNFPA) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), Record of Decision, and implementation guidelines. The Framework analyzed five critical areas on 11 National Forest in the Sierra Nevada, providing updated standards and guidelines for the analysis of management activities. More
