Cert Description
The Salem CERT program was established in 2002 by the Salem Fire Department. We currently have 275 trained citizens across our 19 neighborhood associations. New team members that work or live in the City of Salem are welcome to attend the annual Spring or Fall classes. Membership varies from retirees, stay at home moms, active business people and high profile City, County and State employees. Our CERT Steering Committee meets monthly and a General Meeting is held quarterly for the entire membership to provide training opportunities and specialty emergency preparedness presenters. Please check the included website for events and upcoming initial CERT training opportunities. Our goal is to provide active CERT teams for each of our neighborhood associations with a cache of equipment locally available to the members in that area. Amateur radio is planned for long distance communications and Family Radio Service radios are used within the neighborhood areas.
