Cert Description |
Since 1999, City of Ashland CERT has provided preparedness training and neighborhood support to local citizens in Jackson County. We offer two Basic Training formats: the Intensive format which a takes place over two weekends (Friday nights and all day Saturdays), or an eight-week evening course. We offer Basic Training 4-5 times per year. All fire, medical, search & rescue and extrication classes are taught by firefighter paramedics. Ashland CERT meets at the Main Fire Station the second Wednesday evening of each month for refresher topics. Team leaders also meet monthly. We hold one goal-setting visioning weekend each year, and one large community event in September for National Preparedness Month. Since December, 2005, Ashland CERT has been activated three times; twice for sandbagging and once for emergency shelter during extremely cold weather. At the end of 2006, Ashland CERT had over 200 active members in a population of 20,000. |
