Cert Description |
The first 12 to 72 hours after a disaster is the most critical. What would you do if emergency personnel were not able to get to you or your community during this timeframe? The CERT Program provides training in emergency preparedness and basic response techiques to citizens who in turn take an active role in personal and public safety. CERT Members will receive a 20 hours of training in seven areas. CERT member are not intended to repalce a community's response capability but rather to serve as an important supplement to it. A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be developed in communities, businesses both private and non-profits, colleges, hospitals, etc. Ohio County also recruits medical professionals for the Medical Reserve Corps. The Whg.-Ohio Co. E.M.A. and the Ohio County Sheriff's Dept. is one of 9 programs in the US that have been recognized as a Volunteers in Police Service Academy. Citizens interested in becoming volunteers for local law enforcement should contact the E.M.A. |
