| Cert Description |
| Kanawha County is the population center as well as the center of state government. The topography makes a large area of the county conducive to flash flooding.
Chemical plants dot the landscape of the county. Three interstates converge upon downtown Charleston. A river that supports commercial navigation passes through the downtown area and two rail lines flank the downtown. All of these are transportation routes for HAZMAT.
Having a trained CERT force is a strong asset in an area such as ours that could endure an emergency event that could overwhelm first responders. |
