| The Converse County CERT Program was implemented when its first 27 members were trained in March, 2004. Classes are scheduled throughout the remainder of 2004 and into 2005. Our goal is to train 150 members from all areas of our county by the end of 2005. We plan to provide them with the uniform CERT training that gives them the skills and confidence to care for themselves, their families, and their neighbors during emergencies.
We currently have 6 trainers on board, 5 of whom have attended the
Train-the-Trainer course in Emmitsburg, MD. Our training cadre is made up
of members of Emergency Management, Fire/HazMat, EMS, Law Enforcement, and a Red Cross First Aid trainer.
With the assistance of the CERT grant we purchased and equipped a CERT
response trailer. Safety equipment was also purchased for our CERT
graduates. |
