| Cert Description |
| Natrona County CERT was inaugurated in December 1999 as part of Natrona County's Project Impact Public Awareness and Education program. The program graduated its first 23 students in January 2000 with a second group of 22 students graduated in March of 2000.
The eight-week program is designed to teach citizens how to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their homes, their workplaces, and to prepare them to respond to disasters in the community. More training is planned for fall 2000 with three classes being offered carrying the program into spring 2001. Students are trained in risk analysis, fire suppression, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and disaster psychology. Teamwork is highly stressed, as nothing is done without assistance. |
