UPCOMING UPWS2.1 DEPLOYMENT

At the end of October 2007, UPWS users will be required to comply with a USPTO Security standard requiring that passwords be changed every 90 days. Passwords must be from 8 to 14 characters and include both upper and lower case letters with at least one number or character symbol. Passwords may not be repeated for ten iterations. You must change your password at the first login after this deployment. You will be able to change your password at any time after that from your workstation.

An improved Bulletin Board interface will provide USPTO staff with the means to post known system problems and upcoming events or announcements. It is found under the General menu tab.

REMINDER!

If a UPWS problem causes you to be logged out of the system, logging in again at the same workstation will unlock your user ID and allow you to continue working without having to request assistance from the On-Line Desk staff.

NEW USPTO MUSEUM EXHIBIT

A new USPTO exhibit entitled Art of Invention - Invention of Art celebrates the aesthetic appeal of patents and trademarks. View artwork that is a byproduct of inventions such as the electron microscope or the Hubble space telescope or the design of a Steinway piano. Whether the art was the intention of the invention or the result of the invention, the exhibit provides another dimension of the effects that patents produce.
