TM REGISTRATION WORD MICROFILM COLLECTION
The Trademark Registration word mark microfilm collection located on the first floor of the Public Search Facility at the Alexandria campus continues to expand. As of November 30, 2007, 1,700 reels have been filed. By the end of February 2008, the entire collection of classified TM Registration word marks will be available on microfilm.
TM REGISTRATIONS WITH DESIGN ELEMENTS MICROFILM COLLECTION
The second group of Trademark Registrations with design elements, classified in the categories Music, Mythology, Building & Scenery and Letters 1, were removed for microfilming from the Trademark Search Facility on Monday, November 26, 2007. Registrations with design elements classified in the Art category are now in the Public Search Facility microfilm collection.
RELOCATION OF MICROFILM CABINETS
To provide easier access to the Public Search Facility's collection of patent and trademark microfilm reels, the microfilm cabinets have been rearranged and will be relabeled. The addition of eight new microfilm cabinets has provided sufficient drawer space to accommodate the receipt of two classified Trademark registration microfilm collections, word marks and registrations with design elements.
GILSON ON TRADEMARKS
Release #64 was received and filed on Oct 24, 2007. This update focuses on changes to TTAB procedures, new online trademark services, jury trials, and amending color features of a registered trademark. The namesake of this publication, Jerome Gilson, was recently inducted into the Intellectual Property Hall of Fame.
UNITED STATES PATENTS QUARTERLY
The PSF is now receiving copies of the Weekly Advance Sheets for the United States Patents Quarterly. This new reference is located with the Public Search Facilities' other legal references on the first floor.
ASSIGNMENT MICROFILM DISCONTINUED
The Public Records Division recently converted its archival storage of patent and trademark assignment recordations from microfilm to electronic media. Therefore, the microfilm that has historically been provided to the Public Search Facility will no longer be produced. The last reel of patent assignment information is Reel 19469 and the last reel of trademark assignment information is Reel 3563. All of the microfilm assignment recordations up to and including these reels will continue to be made available in the Public Search Facility.
Access to new assignment recordations continues to be provided by the Assignments Historical Database (AHD), available on the Universal Public Workstations (UPWS).
You may obtain additional information about searching assignment recordations at On-line Assistance Desks located in each facility.
