ORISE Donates PCs to Community Mediation Services

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) donated three excess computers to Community Mediation Services of Anderson County this week. Community Mediation Services (CMS) reduces court involvement and promotes the peaceful resolution of community conflicts using community facilities, resources and volunteers.

"As a small non-profit organization we very much appreciate the donation of the newer computers from ORISE," said Mary McCarthy, program coordinator for CMS.

The program’s office staff and 40 volunteer mediators will use the computers to coordinate its mediation programs, manage statistics for its guarantors and to communicate with other mediators and mediation centers across the state.

"We were glad for the opportunity to donate these computers to CMS because of the vital work that they do in providing mediation services for families in our community," said Bill Price.

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is a U.S. Department of Energy institute focusing on scientific initiatives to research health risks from occupational hazards, assess environmental cleanup, respond to radiation medical emergencies, support national security and emergency preparedness, and educate the next generation of scientists. ORISE is managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
