| Whisperwood is a 55+ manufactured home community of 395 homes. We have 27 trained members, and are in an unincorporated area outside of DeLand, Florida. We are not affiliated with any group other than the County Coordinator from the Volusia County Fire Dept. The team meets monthly to update information, practice our basic first aid, review radio procedures, and revise the forms needed for record keeping.
We operate 5 team-owned and 9 privately owned hand held CB radios. We have organized our team in three groups, Command, Search and Rescue, and Medical. We are currently meeting Quarterly with the county coordinator and the coordinator of the City of DeBary. We are planning to jointly organize a county CERT association.
On January 13,2001, we sent a team of 8 members to the Orlando Fire Department/Universal Studios "Disaster 2001" that was a great learning experience that we shared with many others. |
