Cert Description
The Avalon CERT is co-sponsored by the Los Angeles County's Sheriff's Department and Fire Departments. The CERT members are part of the Sheriff's Department Volunteer Program. A 25 hour CERT training is used to prepare Catalina Island residents to help themselves, their family, their neighbors, and community in case of an emergency or disaster. Catalina Island is isolated and residents need to be prepared to take care of themselves during an emergency. CERT training is available to all residents, businesses, and civic groups on Catalina Island.
