| Cert Description |
| Taught by charismatic and knowledgeable police officers, this 20-hour course trains volunteers to be better prepared for earthquakes and other emergencies. Trainees meet for four Wednesday nights and learn essential skills, including disaster preparedness, fire suppression, basic medical operations and search and rescue. There is an additional Saturday hands-on session and optional maintenance training throughout the year. The Los Altos Police Department offers training in September and January. The course is open to all with priority given to Los Altos residents.
