Cert Description
At CERT San Diego, our goal is to develop CERT teams throughout the City-- roughly half of San Diego county. We offer interactive six week hands-on CERT training academies, fast-tracked academies with an online component and continuing education for CERT grads including helicopter training and ham radio team development. San Diego Fire-Rescue uniformed personnel teach CERT academies at the regional public safety training institute where firefighters and paramedics train. We empower CERT teams at the local level-- our teams hold their own meetings and drills inside the communities they serve. We seek partnership with community groups, businesses, volunteers and ham radio operators to offer support in time of need. We currently have CERT San Diego teams in Scripps Ranch, Navajo, Tierrasanta, Mid City, North Inland, North City, Beach area, Southeast San Diego and other communities. CERT San Diego is a lead agency to the county offering the region's only full time CERT Program Manager. We are members and collaborators on the CERT Council of San Diego County and all regional agencies and jurisdictions.
