| Cert Description |
| Pajaro Valley C.E.R.T. is a community benefit project of the Watsonville Police Department and the volunteers of the Watsonville Police Community Posse. Co-operating agencies and organizations participating in planning and training include Watsonville Fire Department, Watsonville Community Hospital, Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office and Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz County. The Pajaro Valley C.E.R.T. program is managed by a steering committee made up of representatives of these agencies as well as representatives of the school district and the community at large. Training sessions consist of four evening classes and one full Saturday class for a total of approximately 18 hours. Class size is limited to approx- imately 15 participants per session. The C.E.R.T. 2000 sessions will train in excess of 90 community volunteers. A special emphasis is placed on earthquake preparedness, since Watsonville was severely impacted by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Pajaro Valley C.E.R.T. is funded in part by the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County and the Watsonville Police Community Posse. |
