At the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and just two hours from Los Angeles, the Tehachapi Valley CERT program prepares citizen volunteers for the very likely earthquake, flood, fire or hazardous materials incident. Tehachapi is among the areas hardest hit by earthquakes in California and would likely be isolated in the event of a major quake. The goal ot the Tehachapi Valley CERT program is to train 100 volunteers within the first year and continue to establish competent responders for any disaster we may encounter. The Tehachapi Valley CERT program began in August 2003.
