| This local CERT Program was established in 1998 and the first program witin the State, developed after a visit to research the Seattle, Washington program. Since that time the program has expanded to include a retirement center, municipal government, private industry, a disaster animal response team, local transit(bus)
system and will expand into two local school systems (summer of 2004). We
continue to assist other communities and the State with program
development as requested.
Each class includes a NWS severe weather spotter class in addition to the
core courses. Instructors are used from the local police, fire and EMS
agencies. CAN HELP is an acronym for Concord Area Neighborhoods Helping
Learn Preparedness. Concord's public safety programs are
neighborhood/community based and is supported by an active Citizen Corps
Council. |
