The Orange County CERT program seeks to mitigate the loss of life and property by providing well-trained community volunteers to assist First Responder professions in the response to a disaster--be it manmade or natural. Orange County CERT enlists professionals from four fire, two law enforecement and one ambulance service to donate their time, experience and expertise in educating community members regarding how to effectively assist emergency management staff in the event of a disaster. Currently, the program has seven (7) CERT volunteers; however, the program's goal is to have 50 fully trained and certified CERT volunteers. Thanks to the cooperative spirit which exists in Southeast Texas, all involved in Orange County CERT are confident this goal will be achieved. |
