| The Fannin County CERT program has established excellent working relationships with the American Red Cross,Fannin County Ham Radio Club (K5FRC). Fannin County CERT members have responded to Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Denise in the State of Florida. The units also provide support of local events, such as the 4th of July fire work display, community picnics and other community events.
The partnership with the Ham radio club has been a win-win situation, As the club provides training for interested CERT members and the members then become part of the local ham club. The ham club has participated from the conception of the Fannin County CERT program, in providing communications for and with the CERT units, this communication tool is vital to the success of our unit as we are in a rural area with limited emergency communication channels available. The Ham club has participated in each class graduations final exercise. |
