| Copperas Cove Cert Training will begin in early 2004, once equipment and supplies have been purchased and classes have been set up. We are actively recruiting members for our first CERT Training Class. An information brochure is currently being distributed within the Community.
Our classes will consist of 30 students each (5 teams with 6 members each).
The Copperas Cove CERT Team will work with the Copperas Cove Fire Dept., Citizens Fire and Public Safety Volunteer Association, local Neighborhood Watch Program, and the Red Cross.
The CERT Teams will train with the Fire Dept. and First Responders in mock disaster drills, cribbing, and first aid training.
Once a citizen is CERT trained they will be able to provide the following services to their neighborhood:
* Increase their neighborhoods disaster readiness.
*Assess damages after a disaster.
*Extinguish small fires and teach fire safety.
*Perform light search and rescue operations.
* Perform triage and provide medical services to the injured.
*Organize procurement of supplies. |
