GSA Presents Evergreen Award to Canon U.S.A., Inc.GS #10129 January 12, 2005 Washington -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced that Canon U.S.A., Inc., of Lake Success, N.Y., won the 2004 Evergreen Award for its commitment to supporting the environment and creating a sustainable society. The seventh annual award recognizes Canon’s commitment to support the federal community with printers, image filing devices, copying machines and other energy-efficient devices that also conserve resources. GSA’s National Furniture Center established the award in 1998 to support the 1998 Executive Order 13101, which requires agencies to incorporate waste prevention and recycling into their daily operations through greater use of recycled products. The 2004 Evergreen Award was presented to Canon on Dec. 7. To help agencies buy green, GSA also publishes its Environmental Products and Services Guide, which lists 3,000 environmentally friendly products and services available from GSA’s Federal Supply Service. GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property management agency created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. GSA provides federal agencies with office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies, and services. GSA supports U.S. federal civilian and military activities around the world, providing products and services to sailors, soldiers, airman, and marines in support of their global missions.
