Labor and Employment Unit

Attorneys in the Law Department's Labor and Employment Unit enjoy a broad and diverse employment law practice.  Unit attorneys litigate in the federal courts and various state and local venues.  In federal court, Unit attorneys represent the City and its agencies in litigation arising under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and various other federal statutes.  In addition, Unit attorneys defend the City's labor and employment practices in proceedings before the State's trial and appellate courts, the Philadelphia Civil Service Commission, the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, and the American Arbitration Association.  Finally, Unit attorneys frequently advise City officials regarding a wide variety of labor and employment issues.

The Labor and Employment Unit offers ambitious, hard-working individuals the opportunity to have a full labor and employment practice, all while working in the public interest.
