DANBURY MAN SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROBBING DANBURY BANK OF $2,260

Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that RAYMOND BROADWAY, 50, of Danbury, Connecticut, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to 96 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for bank robbery.  BROADWAY pleaded guilty to the offense on March 9, 2006.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on November 1, 2005, BROADWAY robbed the Savings Bank of Danbury at 12 Hayestown Avenue, Danbury, of $2,260.

BROADWAY has been detained since his arrest on November 1, 2005.  He was on both federal parole and New York state probation for prior robbery convictions at the time of this offense and may face additional penalties for violating the conditions of his release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the valuable assistance of the Danbury Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Senior Litigation Counsel Richard J. Schechter.
