West Coast groundfish trawl survey underway

The Center's FRAM Division is conducting their 11th annual bottom trawl survey of groundfish, May 12-October 18, from Cape Flattery, WA to the U.S.-Mexican border. The survey, which will complete two passes down the coast using two vessels per pass, will document changes in abundance, distribution, and condition of important fish stocks. The survey provides critical information to fisheries managers, fishers, and others. Stocks assessments based on survey data are used by the Pacific Fisheries Management Council to establish fishing quotas and implement sustainable management plans. more...
