Dogs With Diabetes Now Have Their Own Drug

FDA has approved the first insulin drug for dogs that have the disease diabetes. Insulin is normally made in a dog's (or person's) own body. It helps the body use the energy we get from food. But when a dog or person has diabetes, the body either doesn't produce any insulin or not enough. Before this drug was approved, dogs had to be treated with human insulin, which didn't work very well for them.
