Under Secretary of State James K. Glassman Participating in the Launch of the Democracy Video Challenge

Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs James K. Glassman will travel to the United Nations to participate in the launch of the Democracy Video Challenge and to highlight the UN’s first International Day of Democracy on Monday, September 15. The Democracy Video Challenge enhances the global dialogue on democracy by asking filmmakers, youth, and other citizens of the world to create video shorts that complete the phrase “Democracy is…” Partners for the online video contest include the State Department, democracy and youth organizations, academia, and the news, film and entertainment industry.

The launch and reception will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the West Terrace at the United Nations in New York, and is open to the press. Members of the press interested in covering the launch event should arrive at the United Nations Visitors Entrance on First Avenue and East 46th Street by 2:30 PM on September 15. Once processed through the security tent, enter the lobby and check in with U.S. Mission personnel manning a USUN table near the Information Booth.

UN press credentials are required to cover this event. Journalists without UN credentials should pre-register by contacting:
