Collins     307-261-7603 "Operation Respect" Hunter Information Available at BLM CFO Hunter information for the fall 2008 season is available through the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Operation Respect Program at the Casper Field Office. Operation Respect promotes respect for the land, both public and private, provides information to the public on access and user ethics, and improves cooperative relations between public and private landowners. While the program is maintained year-round, it is especially emphasized during the fall hunting season. Casper Field Manager, Joe Meyer comments, "Operation Respect is an important program because it encourages the safe and legal use of public lands. We are providing information to hunters that helps prevent trespass on private property." BLM would also like to remind hunters that off highway vehicles (OHV) are limited to existing roads and trails and that game retrieval is limited to 300 feet from an existing road. According to BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Eve Bennett, "This OHV restriction protects important wildlife habitat." In addition, forest management activities are in progress on Muddy Mountain. Commercial logging operations and public firewood cutting have been occurring during the past several months. As a result, some side trails may be closed or blocked temporarily due to logging activities. Increased traffic including logging trucks should be expected. The main access road to Muddy Mountain is currently very rough. All drivers should use caution and follow common sense rules of the road. All hunter information items will be available at the Casper Field Office located at 2987 Prospector Drive. BLM 1:100,000 scale maps showing roads and public and private land are also available for $4. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
