Health and Safety Directorate

Office of Safety and Environmental Health (CG-113)

The Office of Safety and Environmental Health is dedicated to protecting our people, increasing operational readiness and enhancing the mission effectiveness of all Coast Guard units by:

  1. Identifying the loss exposures that endanger our people, platforms and equipment
  2. Evaluating the associated loss exposure risks, and
  3. Controlling these risks to minimize loss
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISIONS
Aviation Safety Division (CG-1131)
Responsible for Airframes, Flight Safety Officers (FSO), Ground Safety Officers (GSO), and General Aviation Safety.
Environmental Health Division (CG-1133)
Charged with aspects of human health, including quality of life, that are determined by physical, chemical, and biological factors in the environment.
Shore Safety Division (CG-1132)
Focus on mission and safety issues associated with Sector operations and shore-based activities including: marine safety & security activities, fire safety, motor vehicle safety, and facility response plans.
Afloat Safety Division (CG-1134)
Oversee safety programs on cutters and small boats.
