I am totally blind and use public transportation daily.  I travel throughout the country on a regular basis.

I am in favor of appropriate audible traffic signals which give the maximum information about a crossing, verbally and tactually, whose volume level depends on surrounding ambient noise and which verbally infor the pedestrian of location, when queried, and relay which crossing is clear to walk. Such guidelines have previously been published.

I am also in favor of detectable warning strips on platform edges anywhere else which would increase the knowledge of a blind traveler so that it is equal to that of a sighted traveler.

For statistical purposes I am a good cane traveler and chose to use a dog guide most often.
