I'm writing to encourage you to adopt rules for a wide implementation of detectable warnings and audible pedestrian signaling. I realize you will receive many letters in support of this and also some in opposition, but I hope you will regard mine as interesting. I am a member of a major organization that has expressed its opposition to these proposed rules, however, I and many in that particular organization are appalled by the stance they have taken. I have traveled in other countries and areas, notably Vancouver, Canada and Europe, where APS are much more common than they are here, and I find them very valuable. The other organization may put their big guns into the struggle against APS, but they are misguided and on this issue, they will not prevail!

Sincerely,
Michael Alvarez
